Memories of Our Mothers by SiwaPyra Memories of Our Mothers by SiwaPyra
First time I played through, I did the Noveria mission before getting Liara (I was a noob and stupid, not realizing how awesome Liara is haha). All the other playthroughs I made sure to bring Liara to Noveria... This has got to be one of the most tragic scenes of the ME trilogy. ME1 wasn't the most well done, I think we can all agree, and if this had happened in ME2 or 3, it probably would have been a lot more heartbreaking cinematically-wise. But the concept of it... holy crap this kicks me in the feels.

Anyway, just wanted to share this little nugget that popped in my head.

Thanks for sharing this. You're completely right, it WAS one of the saddest scenes in ME1 (Virmire also still gets to me) and it would have been played better in ME3...*insert another heart-breaking scene here*

Great work, as always!

I probably would have been bawling like a baby if it was in ME3 lol

And thank you very much :blowkiss:

Haha I know right? It has always seemed weird to me, the way Liara reacted on Benezia's death (or, rather, didn't react almost at all). Especially comparing to all that teary, painful drama after Thessia's fall :cries: Talking about character development...

No probs

I see it the opposite way from Tali's POV... her father was killed by geth, but instead of loosing their home, Rannoch... they regained it, but it was them who left their homeworld, so idk...

I think that's just another point that proves how much bioware vastly improved between ME and ME2/3; the emotion that characters were actually allowed to express haha. Like LotSB? WHEW! That was intense.

OMG I know right? LoTSB is amazing on its own, but if you're playing Shepard who's romancing Liara, it's just...those two have SO much drama between them it's unbelievable :D

Yessss! I feel like Liara/Shep was as close as they got to canon with a pairing lol. There was some obvious favoritism going on, not that I'm complaining ;)

Haha, I've heard that one before... Personally I don't think that's favouritism, it's just... Well, when Shepard is NOT romancing Liara, LoTSB is only half as dramatic - simply because those characters react so beautifully off each other  And bonus points for amazing voice acting, it's honestly hard to imagine they haven't actually recorded that in the same room :)

I agree 100% haha. But I literally romaced Liara every single time with the exception of 1 play through (a grievous lapse of judgment on my part). And with the amped up graphics of Liara in LotSB, it was a marvelous scene :faint:

i think my shepard romanced her on the rebound for loosing her mother, so in essence wanting another person to love... mother love?

I always initiated romance with Liara as soon as possible so I was already well on the way to winning her heart before noveria. But that's a very plausible scenario too!

Tali, the same way, you are rebounding her on the death of her father, both her father and liaras mother did crimes and in essence their deaths allay them and their children and its like forgiveness...

Personally, I would say that ME1 was more well done than ME2 or ME3. The latter two just had prettier visuals and more (forced) drama.

Still, I would agree that Benezia's death may have been a little more gripping if it had been done in 2 or 3. The circumstances of her death in ME1 conflict with sympathy for Liara; the music didn't help, either, as they had the combat music playing during Benezia's dying breath.

I think they caught me with the prettier visuals haha. But I'm a sucker for graphics so I usually just attribute 'better' to 'better graphics'. But yes, the music didn't help either. The scores for 2 and 3 were ridiculously epic and played a huge part in how dramatic 2 and 3 were. Not saying 1 didn't have a good soundtrack, I just felt it could have made all the cinematic scenes a lot more intense.

Don't worry I did the same thing on my first play through as well haha, Although I do agree that if that was in two or three they would have made the scenes more awesome but things can only get better. The pic is really well done btw, would have been awesome if Bioware had the same thought is you and did a scene like your pic!

Yeah it was but I agree that had it been in three or maybe two it would have probably been more emotional. In some ways I always thought it was a little weird how easily Liara shook it off but I figured she just didn't want to think about it at the time.

This is very well done! I am sorry for not giving you more ideas, but my creativity seems somehow drained-for now, hopefully. But this wonderful piece of work shows just how amazing you are on your own. Anyway, please tell me if I should think about something and if you've read that fic, if so, did you like it?
